Mike Patton goes Italio-pop

Former Faith No More singer and long time iconoclast (see his Ipecac label for details, not to mention his recent Peeping Tom band), Mike Patton's latest project is a series of Italian pop songs from the '50's and '60's. Seems like a dodgy idea but give the guy credit for thinking WAY outside the box once again. Mondo Cane seems like kind of silly idea until... you see him perform it live at the Holland Festival last month with a mini-orchestra. He signs in Italian and he's never had any problem with throwing himself into his material as you'll see in this video of the full concert (all 22 songs). If you're curious about what he's singing, this discussion board website gives you the details. I especially love this beat-boxing and vocal hysterics on "Urlo Negro." Hopefully, Morricone would be proud...
